25' Panga
ABOUT THE BOAT
High bow average beam supper shallow draft (so much fun)
The Mississippi sound is beautiful, hosting the most amazing cloud formations that I have seen anywhere in the world. Its teaming with life, and as with most wild things its dangerous. My experience as a SWCC afforded me the opportunity to operate and maintain the greatest tactical boats money can buy, the pinnacle of performance. On the other hand while training foreign law enforcement and military my eyes where opened to simplicity in design, and maintenance to a craft known as a Panga. You can read about the Pangas history some where else. The reason I chose a Panga is because I care about my safety and those of my crew. Pangas can handle heavier seas and still run shallow depending on their load out and configuration. The Mississippi sound is 90 miles long, 12 miles wide, with an average depth between 10-20 feet. Winds are predominately out of the west due to our weather systems running west to east. This culmination of data equates to dangerous sea conditions that change from good to awful in moments. Some fly fisherman scoff at my choice of boat but are willing to take my ride more days out of the year on average due to uncertain weather and a confidence the Panga with me behind the wheel, will come through when it matters; and with your life it always matters.
